Karis Sportfest - Prepping BOB4

On Wednesday 8th of May 2019, I came to Cloudbass to prep BOB4 for the second OB for this module, taking place on Saturday, May 11th, 2019.

Emma a vision guarantee at Cloudbass was on site to help and guide me through everything I need to know when prepping the truck for a football OB.

During BOB4 prep, the following were configured.

Router

The TRIAX for the HSC 300s are usually connected to CCU 7 - 11 and for this job CCU 7 - 10 will be used with 11 as spare.

The router software was used to assign CCU 7 to 10 to button 1 - 4 on panels, this is an internal routing, and the camera must be connected to inputs 7 to 10 on the tailboard.

A clean PGM output for streaming was routed to TX20 and patched to the output 3 located at the back-bench behind production usually used for by GFX.

The Director backup cut was also set up, as a backup plan in case the mixer fails.

Tallyman

Tallyman was used to rename the CCUs on the panels and multi-viewer.

Multi-viewer

MVP Maestro software was used to configure and set up the multi-viewer. See Figure 1.

Vision mixer

  • The CCU inputs (7,8,9 and 10) were names as c1, c2, c3 and c4 and assigned to buttons 1-4 respectively on the vision mixer.  The EVS inputs (x,y) were also assigned to button 9 and 10.
  • The Kayenne XL Sidepanel (a Kayak mixer software) which is available on the PC was used to converted and transferred the Karis Wipe to the vision mixer, see Figure 2.  After the transfer of the wipe footage (video and key) it was assigned to position 0 on the mixer and loaded for use during the event.

VT

Justin helped covert the graphics created for the OB to Prores standard and recorded them to the hyperdeck for playback. During playback, the graphics were then clipped up on the EVS.

  • The X output had clip intended to be used as a holding graphics before and during intervals on loop. To create the loop, the clip was added to a playlist, this because the EVS can not loop a single clip.
  • The Y output had the other two clips intended for play at the beginning of the match.

A Clean PGM feed was routed to the hyperdeck for full OB recording.

Sound

The sound prep was handled by Nuno who was also the sound guarantee on this OB.
